Hotel has channels on TV providing webcam feeds of slopes/weather.

I thought this was such a good thing to have on the telly in a ski resort. Straight away you could tune in and find out what was going on at the top of the mountain, helped you make a decision on where to ski and also (more importantly) allowed you to get prepared if the conditions were difficult. How technology has leapt forward and makes things that much easier for us these days.

This is the last picture I took while away skiing in Kaprun so it seems right to close the chapter by saying that I had a brilliant holiday with my good good friends. I loved every minute of it, and Jacob was a delight. He is 2 years old and I remember when we got on the coach to travel back to the airport he said "Caffryn, have you got your seat belt on?".

Lovely.

@vmadrian Say hello to Rosa :)

In response to demand from @vmadrian I decided to take a picture of my ski trousers. Random I know but I like to have alittlebit of fun. I seem to remember @vmadrian commenting on how the ski boots looked like something out of Terminator. He's not wrong.

Photo was taken at a restaurant at the top of the slopes at Zell am See. That was a really good day skiing, conquered some red runs, the thought of which would have left my blood running cold at one point back in 2006....2007....and 2008 to be fair! There was a Hotel and Church at the top of the slope [http://www.bergfex.com/schmittenhoehe-zellamsee/panorama/], outside of which a nervous Groom waited (in proper suit but wearing ski boots) for his Bride to be. Bonkers! The gondola lifts were called Areitbahn I and II....being a Geordie I decided they were actually called "Aaalreetbahn". Had to be done, obvious joke ;)

Such trousers were a bold statement, but I wanted to inject alittlebit of colour into this year's ski get up. I saw these in the Tog24 factory shop near where I live and figured they'd be just the job ;)

Rosa. My trousers are called Rosa. They're very pink, and much more girly than I had anticipated being! I was, however, easily spotted on the slopes by Gary, to the point that when I wore my navy trousers he had trouble finding me!

Good morning sunshine ;)

Standing at the Bus Stop waiting for the K2 to Kitzsteinhorn [http://en.kitzsteinhorn.at/] when I took this. There's something flipping exhausting about having to get co-ordinated to go out and ski! Gloves, hat, skis, boots (that are impossible to walk in), rucksack, sunglasses, goggles, suncream, water and piste map. All aboard!

Subject of the picture is twofold. Firstly, the sunshine....from the quality of the picture (taken by phone) you can tell that the sun was beating down as the colour is pretty rubbish. Secondly, the Maiskogel slopes [http://www.bergfex.com/maiskogel/panorama/ - specifically the bottom of the Panoramabahn Scheifelberg chair lift if you zoom in on the map] which were the venue for my first venture back on skis the Sunday morning after we got there on the Saturday. Lovely gentle blue runs with Gary to get the legs warmed up.

We were getting the bus to bigger and better things....

Rock me Amadeus! On train on our way back to Kaprun eating Percy Pigs. Grand :)

Well, apologies for the photo orientation problem on this one! I wish there was a neat way to resolve this, I have the same problem when I shoot mini video clips on my Ixus and they can only be viewed as intended by physically turning the laptop around! If anyone knows how to counteract that little challenge, do comment below.

Mozart. A legend. I wish my Dad had been with me that day if Mona hadn't been. He immerses himself in Classical Music (guess I picked up the music gene from him). He could cite Mozart's works and even tell you who performed them best in terms of soloist and/or orchestra, he has an amazing back catalogue in his brain as far as anything to do with Classical music is concerned. I've often said to him that he should have gone on Mastermind to demonstrate the fact, but he would never contemplate doing such a thing. My Dad was the main encouragement when I took up playing the flute at school, we weren't well off as a family but he made sure (along with my Mam) that I had the most amazing Pearl flute at a cost back then of about £800. My parents paid for my sheet music and also ferried me back and forth to weekly School Windband, Orchestra and Choir practice as well as private Flute Lessons that I remember costing £5 per hour from a lady flautist for the Northern Sinfonia.

Whilst I enjoyed M&S Percy Pigs on the train with Mona, I checked my bag to make sure I'd picked up the Mozart chocolates for my Dad. I took them back for him and he devoured them with glee. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mozartkugel]

In restaurant in Salzburg. Lost in translation?

Firstly, how funny? I really couldn't contain the laughter when I saw this at the bottom of the menu in a restaurant called Triangel in Salzburg [http://www.triangel-salzburg.at/Speisen_Englisch.pdf].

Secondly, Lost in Translation is one of my favourite movies (and the favourite movie of many a man who couldn't fail to enjoy the title sequence involving the derriére of one amazingly gorgeous actress, Scarlett Johannson). I can identify with Bill Murray and Scarlett Johannson's characters, I guess that adds a different dimension when you watch a movie. It's shot in Tokyo and after seeing it I now want to visit. I love the way Sofia Coppola Directed the film...it shows the city and the surrounding areas that Scarlet'ts character visits so very well. If you haven't seen it, check it out [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0335266/].

Thirdly, this was a most memorable day. A real chance for Mona and I to catch up on what had been happening in our lives and relive some of the moments from our first holiday together and subsequent London catch ups. Mona had decided not to ski so much this time and for one of the days we were in Austria we decided we would have a girly day out to Salzburg which was about an hour and a half's journey from the nearest train station to us at Zell am See. She was really excited to be having a day where she could just be herself and not be Jacob's Mummy. We planned our route together the night before with the help of a lovely chap at the hotel reception who also gave us a street map and the next morning off we went, leaving Jacob with his adoring Grandparents and allowing Gary to Board happily in the fresh powder. Everybody happy!

The last time I visited Salzburg I think I was about 10 years old, but I have some vivid memories of seeing horses in the streets, the smell of cloves and cinammon, fancy florists and shops with lots of hanging ornaments...oh, and a market square with fantastic fruit stalls. We visited the Castle as a family back then, unfortunately this time around we didn't have too much time so wasn't able to go up and walk around it. We observed it from below, I took lots of pictures and we had a lovely lunch in the restaurant named above.

The only regret that Mona and I had about that day was that we both forgot to wear our thermal leggings underneath our jeans....it was bloomin freezin!
